How to Lose Weight – New Year’s Resolution

How to Lose Weight – New Year’s Resolution

Did you make a New Year’s resolution to lose weight? After all the holiday gatherings (and eating) it’s no surprise that by the time Jan. 1 rolls around, everyone wants to shed those extra pounds. Plus as the motto goes – new year, new you.

So make this year the best one yet and drop that extra weight in healthy and safe way. Now we’re not saying you have to hit the gym or workout every day for hours at time. There are actually easy ways to help shed those extra pounds without killing yourself on the machine.

Lose Weight & Meet Your New Year’s Resolution Goal

Start with a Vision

The best way to achieve your goal is to have one in the first place. Start with a vision board or a place to write out your main goals. Once you know exactly what you want, you’ll have more drive to go after it. So whether you’re looking to lose 15 pounds, run a faster mile, build muscle, or just feel healthier, it helps to know what you want.

Also make sure your goal is measurable. If there’s no way to track your progress then you might lose site of the end objective. If you work towards the same thing every single day then you’ll see more success and feel more accomplished every time you get closer to your target.

Eat Right

They say 75 percent of weight loss starts in the kitchen. It’s not a lie when your doctor tells you to eat more plants and take your vitamins. An enriched diet can help boost your metabolism, provide the right vitamins, and make you feel more full after every meal.

Below are the main food groups that should be a part of every meal in order to maintain a proper diet.

Protein:

  • Meat
  • Fish and seafood
  • Eggs

Good Fats:

  • Avocados
  • Olive oil
  • Coconut oil

Vegetables:

  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Broccoli
Drink More Water

Water can have a huge impact on your body. Just by drinking the right amount of water, you can lose weight quickly. A general rule of thumb is to have eight 8-ounce glasses of water every day. If you aren’t a huge fan of the taste, you can always add a little lemon or lime to spice things up.

The benefits of water not only help boost your metabolism and makes you feel fuller, but it also can have a significant effect on your mood, brain, and energy levels. Plus it helps your body flush out toxins, hydrates your skin, and builds up your immune system. There are so many advantages that water has on the body, it would be crazy not to drink it.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Sleep actually boosts fat loss and burns more calories, meaning you can drop those pounds while literally doing nothing. If you aren’t getting a solid eight hours of sleep each night, you should rethink your nightly routine.

When you hit the hay a little earlier, you prevent yourself from late night snacking. Plus by giving your brain the proper amount of sleep, Women’s Health Magazine explains that you will stay more focused, be better at portion control, and even shop healthier when you’re at the grocery store.

According to Harvard Health Publishing, one in five Americans get less than six hours of sleep per night. This can have significant effect on your health and even lead to chronic health issues such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.

Workout at Home

For weight loss results, you should workout three to five times per week for about 30 to 60 minutes. We know how hard it can be to get outside or hit the gym, especially in the winter months. That’s why at home workout equipment is a convenient and cost-friendly solution.
