The list of things you can do to stay in shape is as long as the city is high. World-class indoor facilities and mild summer weather make Denver the perfect place to get in shape and stay in shape. Broncos Back to Football 7K Run

Participants will have the opportunity to join the Denver Broncos in celebrating the start of the 2016 season by participating in a 7k run/walk event on September 4, 2016, from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This isn’t just a fitness event; it is an opportunity to meet former and current Bronco players along with the team’s cheerleaders. There will also be a variety of ancillary activities for kids and non-participants. You are encouraged to register by August 24th to receive a 7k bib customized with your last name. Online registration closes on September 1st, but participants can still register at the event on race day.

Advanced Qi-Gong and Tai-Chi Chuan

Looking to mix up your workout routine? The Fitness Studio at the Erie Community Center in Erie, CO, sponsors ongoing classes in Advanced Qi-Gong and Tai-Chi Chuan. Qi-gong focuses on coordinating breathing, movement, and the mind to improve flexibility and circulation throughout the entire body. People who participate in these classes will experience a better mental attitude, enhanced sleep patterns, improved balance, and superior physical strength. Over time, the 24-Posture Form of the Yang Style is gradually introduced into the program. The deadline for registration is one week before the start date of the class, and participants are encouraged to wear tread-less footwear and loose clothing.

The Unbroken Games

The Unbroken Games is a partner competition that encompasses all levels of fitness. Although you will compete at the local level, your score will also be ranked against other registered teams from host gyms all over the globe. This is a two-person, same-gender competition that highlights your personal strengths in three demanding fitness tests. The Scaled division is for those who are still learning fitness fundamentals while the RX’d division is for those who are accomplished fitness disciples. The event will be held on September 17 and 18 at the FIT Littleton and CrossFit Littleton in Littleton, Colorado.

Fitness: Women on Weights

During these two educational events, women will learn how to use weights to improve their workout routine. Barbells, dumbbells, bands, steps, core training, and stability are all blended together to help you burn fat and increase strength. Women who are interested in learning about weight training mechanics with an emphasis on endurance, fat loss, and muscular strength will benefit from this type of training. Sessions will be held on September 5, 2016, and November 30, 2016, at the Beck Recreation Center in Aurora, CO.

Mile High United Way Turkey Trot

The Mile High United Way Turkey Trot is one of the most iconic fitness events in Denver. Spanning more than 40 years, the Turkey Trot is a Thanksgiving tradition that draws more than 20,000 people each year for the four-mile walk held at Washington Park. The proceeds are used for the common good, generally benefiting children and youth programs. This year, the event will be held on November 24, 2016, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Registration will begin at 8:00 AM.

Aqua Fitness

Looking for a low-impact workout? The Aqua Fitness program is a total-body workout performed in chest-high water. By using the resistance of the water, overall strength is enhanced with minimal impact on joints, muscles, and tendons. The program emphasizes strength, flexibility, cardio conditioning, and balance. The classes are conducted regularly at the indoor pool at the Heather Gardens Clubhouse, which is located at 2888 S. Heather Gardens Way, Aurora, CO.
